I am looking to buy a Meyer parrot, should I buy a male or a female?

Anyone know if there is a real difference?

Doug

Meyer Parrot, Male or Female best?

There is no difference in behaviors and needs of either the male or female. Both need regular Avian Vet exams at least once a year, organic pellets like Harrison's, safe natural branch wood perches and safe wood toys to chew on, a cage large enough so they can spread their wings completely out to the sides of their bodies and not touch anything. New birds have to be examined by an Avian Vet during the first few days or week after they come home. Birds in pet stores and at most breeder's facilities are already sick with some kind of infection from the stress of moving and being put with strange birds, so make an appointment as soon as you can. Do not start any training or dietary changes until Avian Vet has cleared your bird for illness or other physical issues.
