Mini macaw feather problems

I am unsure if my parrot is a hahns or noble macaw but his beak has been peeling. He also has a tail feather that is like half gone on one side and black colored. He also has some wing feathers that have black spots. Any Suggestions on what this could be?

This could be a nutritional problem, or a disease.

Your bird should be eating 80% high quality pellets like Harrison's or Roudybush and only 20% healthy treats.

If your bird is eating colored pellets, a bunch of seed or table food that is seasoned with salt and full of chemicals, then please read our Switching Birds To Pellets article and some of the health articles on our Parrot Training page for information on getting your bird on a healthier diet.

Because this could be a disease, or your bird could be sick from a poor diet, please Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird right away.

Do NOT try to alter the diet before seeing the avian vet, because a diet change will be stressful and if your bird has a disease or is sick it may become even more ill from the stress.
