missing patch of ear feathers

Our budgie has a missing circle patch of ear feathers the size of the tip of a small pencil earaser, with slight redness at the outer edge, ear appears normal, no other symptoms, should we be concerned, will feathers grow back?

Be concerned and have your bird examined by an avian veterinarian. Sounds like an ear infection or skin infection. There are also other causes.
