molting plumhead parakeet

how long does a molt last on a plumhead parakeet? His head used to be plum but now has a lot of grey in it and he has lost his tail feather. he is still eating and vocalizing but he looks ill.

Probably a sick parakeet

A bird that seems sick is usually very sick. A bird that is molting will not have bare spots or down feathers showing. They will lose feathers and the replacement feathers will come in without bare spots ever showing.
