This Moluccan Cockatoo has been nicknamed Houdini

Harley, the Moluccan Cockatoo, is laid back and affectionate.

Moluccan Cockatoo picture

Harley is a Moluccan Cockatoo. We got him as a breeder, but he's a little too young for that. He's 6 years old, and the female Moluccan we have is 16. A Moluccan matures at around 8 years old or so.

We nicknamed him Houdini because it's nearly impossible to keep him in his cage. He can open latches, leashes, and unscrew the little carabiner things if they're not tight enough.

He's usually pretty laid back and very affectionate, except when he sees you putting locks on his cage doors, and then he turns into an attack cockatoo.

He's also fairly quiet - normally quieter than our Umbrella Cockatoo or our Sulfur Crested Cockatoo. They get into screaming matches with each other, from their cages 2 feet apart.
