My 24 year old Blue Fronted Amazon is losing feathers

by BILLY
(NY)

Why is my 24 year old Blue Fronted Amazon losing feathers on the right of his head and left wing feathers.
Feathers are completely gone.
He has never had any health issues before and does not cohabit with any other birds.
He eats Zupreem pellets and gets Vitakraft snack sticks as well as fruit, veggies and nuts.

Amazon losing feathers

According to our avian vet, ZuPreem is poor quality and full of sugar. The other item you mentioned is junk food. You need to switch your bird to a quality pellet diet like Harrison's or Roudybush asap.

Losing feathers on the head, where the bird can not be plucking, could mean your bird has a disease. Please Find an Avian Vet for your bird. Regular dog/cat vets do not know enough about birds, and sometimes kill bird due to lack of experience in handling and caring for small birds.
