She hold up her one foot alot. I am not sure if this is normal, and what could cause this? I would like to help her to relieve some of the pain. Is there anything I can do? I have looked at it and there is no redness nor swelling. She has been doing this for app. 1 week. thx Dee

If there is no swelling, redness or obvious injury, I'd look at what kind of perches she has. Birds need natural branch perches so there are different diameters which help feet to not be cramped up. If she is sitting on wooden dowels, then these will cause arthritis eventually and right now are causing foot cramps.

You can find natural branch perches in pet stores, birds stores and on the internet. Make sure the overall diameter of the perches are what is recommended for your smaller bird. Perches too small around or too big around also hurt their feet.

Keep an eye on foot, and if you see swelling or redness, please take her to an Avian Vet to be checked out.

Thanks for writing,
Linda
