My bird walks in circles

When my lorikeet walks in circles it's in the cage and sometimes when he's out what does it mean?

Is he bored? Also he is around 4 months and he is a yellow breasted green scaly

Bird walks in circles

Maybe boredom, but it could also be an illness. You need to have him seen by an avian veterinarian immediately and speak to someone about how to properly care for and house a lory. These are very special birds that require special diets and caging. Seek the help of a qualified bird store in your area. But I have a DVD that I helped with that will give you some very useful information. It is called the ?Expert Companion Bird Care Series Volume I. It has some really good tips.

This is a situation where you'll have to take your bird to an Avian Vet in your driving area. Walking in circles can mean all kinds of things and one meaning is that the bird is having some kind of reaction to a toxin. I had a very sick Amazon years ago, and she was allergic to one of her meds, and she did this walking in circles and also running from one side of cage to the other and falling down.

I would have your bird examined by avian vet for what could be going on. Have him do routine bloodwork to see how organs are functioning and tests for both bacterial and viral infections. If bird checks out good in all areas, then you may be looking at a toxin in the home. Air fresheners are toxic as are scented candles, perfume, fingernail polish and remover, paint, glue and many other things that can be found in a home including bleach and ammonia which cannot be used around birds inside the house.

Let us know what avian vet has to say and thanks for writing,
