My birds foot

Hi I found a baby bird outside my gate we have identified it as a turquiose parrot he has all his feathers and all but one of his feet the claws are turned in and he is having difficulties walking on it he can though walk and the floor a little bit before falling over with his head hitting the floor is there anything I can do to help it I found him two days ago and every two hours I've been feeding him through a syringe with mushy wet food ( wombaroo ) and also water through a syringe too. Can you help me??

Sorry to hear it died. It was most likely a wild parrot so if you do find one again you need to take it to a rehab centre, vet or wildlife centre so they can look after it. Most of us do find wild parrots & take of them ourselves in AU but if you're unsure about the bird it's got a much higher chance of survival being taken to a professional.

Hi thanks for the comment and feedback but its not needed anymore as my bird died last night. But thanks and yes he was lovely.

An avian vet might be able to splint the feet, but the bird would need to be examined to determine what exactly is the problem first. You will also want the bird's blood to be tested to make sure you are not bringing a disease into your home and to your other birds, if you have any.

Beautiful bird, by the way. I would love to live where such beautiful birds are flying around all the time.
