My Blue and Gold Macaw won't "pick up"

I have a Blue and Gold Macaw. I'm unaware of it's gender if that means anything. We've had it for about 2 years, it was given to us after being rescued. It has come a long way since we first got it. It turns out I'm the family member it likes. However, I can't get it to pick up! It will just sit there and hold my hand and rock side to side. Got any tricks?

Getting bird to step up

You might try stick training by putting the stick or perch just above the feet so that it will feel the need to step up. You could try this with your hand, but it would be a nasty bite if it doesn't like it at first.

We do have some training materials on our Parrot Training page that might be helpful too. Watching youtube birds step up might help you too.
