my blue parakeet

why does my parakeet always stand one one foot, but when i get him out he will stand on both but if i let him sit on the table or on top of his cage he will only stand on one foot. so is this something i should be scared about...i have another question why does his one nail look like he going to lose it?

 Parakeet stands on one foot

Hello Linda,

It is normal for a bird to stand on one foot when taking a nap or sleeping at night. It is not normal for a bird to stand on one foot all day, every day.

The vet can not look at your bird over the Internet and tell you what is wrong. He suggests that you take your bird to an avian vet to be looked at. There must be some reason that your bird is not comfortable standing on the one leg.

You don't just want ideas of what might be wrong, you need to find out what is wrong and treat only that problem.
