my budgie sitting very low on her perch

by Charlie

hi, does anyone know why my budgie is sitting very low on her perch? she's kind of sitting with her bum a little bit up in the air and got her head down a little.. I'm a bit worried that she's maybe ill or something and I don't want her to die. but i don't think she's ill because she is acting normal when I'm sorting things out in the cage.

but she's absolutley fine, she's sat but straight and chirping away happily, please don't get me worried about her saying she might have cancer, I'm only 14 and 4 or 5 budgies died in the past and I've finely had these ones for a long time

Birds do not even have to have a mate to lay eggs, many birds lay eggs without a mate. My GC Conure lays eggs without a mate. Your bird could have cancer, be egg bound or something else. Please Find an Avian Vet for your bird.

If you are not a breeder, then you need to separate these birds so that they don't mate and have babies. If the parents attack the birds or don't feed them, you will have to feed them every few hours without fail for a LONG time.

If your bird is eating Harrison's or Roudybush pellets, then you don't have to worry about egg binding, because our avian vet has not seen a case of egg binding in 30yrs with birds eating Harrison's for the majority of their diet.

I haven't seen her matting with my male budgie or anything and plus I don't know when budgies mate and it's cold in my room sometimes so she might be trying to keep warm or something

If your budgie is a female, she could be egg bound. I would take her to an avian vet asap!!
