Birds and gas heaters

Depends on the gas. Propane and natural gas ? no. Kerosene ? yes. Don?t keep him close to ANY heater because the heat will dry out his skin and mucus membranes.

Gas heaters

I hate to break it to you, but if there is even a teeny tiny gas leak, your budgie will die regardless of where in house he is. If possible, please get him away from the gas heater. If you can, trade the gas heater for electric heater which will be safe for you and bird. If they are not set on a high setting, they are as reasonable to use as gas. Also, propane is better than regular gas in that it has a higher percentage of burn.

Thanks for writing and hopefully your bird will be alright, and I just don't trust gas anything except for maybe propane gas logs where the people come regularly to check and make sure all is well with the lines and regulator.
