My female Zebra Finch is all puffed up and sleepy

My Female Finch was fine yesterday, she has been laying eggs over the last week. Today she is twice her normal size and she is sleeping a lot. The Male Finch is fussing around her and she has been eating and drinking.

Your bird may be egg bound. You need to Find an Avian Vet right away to examine and treat your bird.

In the future, make sure your birds are eating 80% high quality pellets like Harrison's or Roudybush and only 20% healthy treats that includes a little seed. This will keep your bird from becoming egg bound.

Please read our Chronic Egg Laying article written by an avian vet for more information on caring for birds that lay eggs.
