My Gouldian won't Molt.

I have 4 Gouldian finches. Three of them have molted several times. They have beautiful colors! One female has never molted. The feathers are falling off the back of her head. All her feathers are dull. Why won't she molt??

Bird not molting

The feathers on the back of the hear are being plucked out by one of the males. Your cage may be over crowded or there may not be enough nesting sites, perches, or food bowls. Stress can prevent molting and she is probably stressed. It may also be related to diet or poor quality lighting. She could have a health issue too like hypothyroidism, infection, etc. I recommend that you take her to see an avian veterinarian.

The males are picking on her. Too many males in the cage. She may need a better diet; she may need better light ( full spectrum light). She certainly needs to be removed from the very stressful situation she is in. Then have her seen by an avian veterinarian.
