EMERGENCY
by: Alex

THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!

Birds DO NOT have periods. You should never see any blood coming from the bird.

If blood is coming from the vaginal area, then as Tracie has said, the bird could be egg-bound and must be seen by an avian vet as a matter of urgency.

1) Egg-bound birds die if the egg is not passed quickly.

2) The bird can become exhausted an more susceptible to illness.

3) Birds have only a few mls of blood. Therefore can bleed to death very quickly.

Please let us know how your bird gets on.

Kind Regards

Alex

Parrot could be egg bound
by: Tracie

This is an emergency situation, nobody can help over the Internet. It is possible your bird is egg bound and in serious pain, along with a very short time to live without help.

Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.
