Lorikeet keeping beak open

This can indicate a respiratory problem or a problem in her oral cavity. I recommend that you bring her in for an exam.

Your bird is very sick, and will die if you do not take her to an Avian Vet ONLY. Do not take her to dog and cat vet because they are not licensed or trained in how to diagnose and treat birds. Find an Avian Vet in your driving area. You can find them using phone book or calling the VeT Association for your area. You may have to drive a ways or you may find one nearer to home.

Your bird is in very bad shape, and the longer you wait, the more certain she is to die, so do not delay finding an Avian Vet in your area.

In the meantime, cover cage and leave a couple of inches open around the bottom so air can circulate. Sick birds must be kept warm and quiet. You can cover everything except the front during the day and entire cage at night. Please do not wait to get her to an avian vet because every hour brings her closer to death.

Let us know what avian vet has to say.

Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird if you do not have an avian vet.
