Yes, this is a sign of sickness, and BOTH birds need to be taken to an Avian (bird) vet in your area. Do not take them to a regular dog and cat vet as they are not licensed to treat birds and can make matters worse.

ALL NEW BIRDS NEED TO BE TAKEN FOR AN EXAM BY AN AVIAN VET SOON AFTER THEY ARE BROUGHT HOME. The reason for this is most birds are already sick from breeder or especially a pet store. Their immune systems are down as well from moving into new homes and/or pet stores, and all need a good checkup for bacterial infections by a licensed Avian Vet.

Thanks for writing, and we wish you the best with your new birds,
Linda
