My Macaw has one leg and sleeps laying down

by Laurie
(USA)

I have a one legged blue and gold macaw. He sleeps laying down. He also lays down sometime during the day. He is very active so I don't think he is sick at all.

Is this normal for a macaw with only one leg? Does he just get tired and have to take a break? He is still just a baby about 5 months old, so he is either very active or sleeping. But I want to make sure that this is not something I have to be concerned about. Thanks

One legged Macaw
by: Tracie

I think it may be a combination of needing a rest and being a baby. Babies sleep more than adult birds. Also, having only one leg, could be tiring.

I am sorry I don't know what else more to say.
