feather plucking

Please take your bird to the vet. When my cockatiel started plucking I took her to the vet and she had an infection. After a round of antibiotics she quit. If there is nothing wrong I would recommend Pluck-No-More. Its pricey but it works if there isn't a medical condition.

Parkeet picks until bleeding
by: Tracie

Hello Kayla,

Dr. B can not tell you why your bird does this because he would need to examine the bird and possibly run some tests.

You need to take your bird to an avian vet to see if there is a medical reason that your bird is picking his neck. It could be any number of things.

Usually when a bird picks it's feather out of nervousness, it picks more feathers then just under the chin.
