My Orange wing Amazon bit someone with Hepatitis

by Cassie

A couple days ago my Orange Wing Amazon, Dodie, Bit someone who has Hepatitis. I called the vet and they told me she couldn't spread it if she doesn't have it. She didn't answer my question. My question was- Because Hepatitis lays dormant for many years, If she was to bite someone, could it spread before I sanitize her beak. And how do I do that??? PLEASE HELP!!!!

If there is blood on the Amazon's beak, it is THEORETICALLY possible to "inject" it into the next person bitten. To be cautious, you can restrain your bird and wipe the beak with Oxyfresh cleansing gele and wiping off any residue with warm water. You would need only to moisten a cloth with a solution of the disinfectant, and then wipe clean with another wet cloth.

In case someone questions the bird getting hepatitis, the Amazon cannot get hepatitis from the person.
