My parakeet bites!

My Parakeet used to be very friendly with me. Now all of a sudden she bites me whenever I put my hand in. I have two parakeets. One is blue and the other is white. It is the white one that bites me. I don't take her out of her cage very often. I do it about 2-3 times a week. I give them millet on Saturdays and sometimes I even put in honey sticks. She used to understand that my hand was something to trust, but now she seems to have forgotten that. Please help me! What should I do?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I have 3 parakeets & maybe this will help
by: Anonymous

I used to have 4 but now 3. The one that had passed was a white female. Your story is a lot like mine. She was never a biter before but when she got near the other 2 birds she started to bite and draw blood. I think that you should get your bird used to you and maybe for a while try a seperate cage. That is what we did and after that she stoppedbiting. (the only other bird that was in there with her was her brother so I think that helped her a little)

Parakeet biting

Budgies have a reputation of doing this if they are not held every day. You will need to start over with teaching your bird you can be trusted.

Also, having another bird in the cage might be adding to the problem. I am NOT suggesting you separate them though. If they have bonded then that would not be nice to them.
