Budgie cere
by: Alex

I have looked at the pictures of the cere and it is too young to tell the gender.

If you cannot wait for sexual maturity, you can have the bird DNA sexed by an avian vet.

Juveniles of both sexes have a pink cere which can sometimes have a tinge of purple.

Adult males ceres go bright blue

Adult females ceres go dark tan / brown.

My budgies ceres have changed gradually during and after their moult, so you may have to be patient to find out the gender.

Males are generally more sociable, and the females tend to bite a lot harder.

Don't just guess the gender by behaviour, as a juvenile one of my budgies was thought to be female when they bit the avian vet and his assistant, but the cere went blue and the bird has calmed down.

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to get back in contact.

Thanks for getting in contact and opening your heart to a cute little bird.

P.S. Your bird is very pretty.

My Parakeet male or female?
by: Sandra D Singh

April the way your bird stands with its feet far apart and pinkish Cere seems to be a female according to one of my friends who's a breeder. Although my friend never had a wrong guess; I'll advise you to take your bird to an Avian Vet. He/she would do the necessary test to determine the gender and you'll know for sure. I also think it's a female so take care of yourself and your dear little baby; good luck and God bless.
