My parakeet sneezing and standing on one foot

My parakeet keeps on standing on one foot now, and she seems to be sneezing. I am afraid she might be sick. Is she? Should I take her to the vet?

why do parakeet stand on one foot

? and if it is a good thing? how is it good?

Editor's note: A healthy bird will often sleep on one foot. It means they have good balance, a sick bird usually is too weak to sleep on one foot.

Bird possibly sick
by: Tracie

If your bird is standing on one foot, that is usually a good sign. But that is no guarantee that the bird is not sick.

If your bird is less active, eating less, has stools that are not normal or acting not "normal" then take the bird to an avian vet.

If your bird sits fluffed up often and is sleeping, then take your bird to the vet.

If your bird is sneezing often, it may have something stuck in it's nares and that would require a vet visit also.
