White flakes coming off bird
by: Tracie

This is normal when a bird is molting. When the new feathers come in, they are covered with a white sheath to protect the blood feather. Once the feather comes all the way in, the bird will preen the sheath off and you will see white flakes everywhere.

You can help your bird with this process by providing clean water for baths. Make sure you take out the bath water in an hour or so. You don't want your bird to drink dirty water. Many birds get bacterial infections because they don't have water bottles to drink from and they bathe in water bowls that have food residue and germs in them.
