My parakeet won' stay away from us , why?

by Yvonne
(Orlando)

We have had two parakeets now for about six months. They took a few weeks to let us hold them and since then they have allowed us to when they are in the mood, I guess! They would have never let us hold them for mor than a minute and most certainly have never flown to us.

For the last two days one of them will not stay away from us, he flies and lands on us all the time. He is also puffed up almost constantly which he was not before. Is there something wrong with him. Not that I am complaint I love the fact that he comes to us of his own choice.

Parakeet staying fluffed up
by: Tracie

The key here is your comment, "He is also puffed up almost constantly which he was not before."

I bird that it fluffed up all the time is usually a sick bird. Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet to examine your bird.

Your bird may be trying to get your attention and communicate that it doesn't feel well to you, since you are the one that feeds and cares for their needs.
