my parrot is not normal.

by Manoj

I've brought a Indian Ring-neck parrot 2 days before and the parrot is around 3-4 months old. but since I've brought him home he has not attempted to make any kind of sound till now. And his wings have also been cut a bit by the breeder. I'm really scared please help me out soon. will his wings grow back completely and what should i do to get him be normal and make sounds. He also bites a lot.

Your bird could possibly be sick, and being so young might not do well until he is seen by an Avian Vet. Do not take to a regular dog and cat vet as they are not licensed or trained in the care of birds.

New birds are always frightened of new people and new home so you'll need to give him time to adjust to all the new stuff. Your bird will also have to be trained, but NOT before he is seen and treated by an Avian Vet because sick birds cannot learn and do not feel good enough to do any work.

There is a link on this site for help in finding an Avian vet, and you need to find one and get your bird to them immediately as infections do not just go away, but get worse and worse until bird dies.

Find an Avian Vet

Only the 6 long Primary feathers at the bottom end of the wings should ever be cut. Wings cut up any higher than that hurt all the time and cripple the bird as well.

So, find an Avian (bird) vet and get your bird into them for an exam for infections and also some basic blood work to make sure organs are functioning properly.

sounds normal to me. unfamiluar surroundings. bird is scared. needs time to adjust to new surroundings before attempting to pick up. talk in quite reassuring tones so the bird will get used to you. they aren't like dogs or cats which you can pick up immediately.
