My parrotlet is making a really weird scratching sound with his beak I don't know why.. he won't stop doing it

Parrots rub their upper and lower mandibles together to get food out of their beaks. They will also rub their beaks on their perches to clean them especially after they've eaten.

If you see any irritation or swelling, then he has to be examined by an Avian Vet. It would be good to Find an Avian Vet now before some emergency comes up and you need one right away. People with birds have to have Avian Vets to treat them when sick or injured.

Scratching sounds

Hi there,

It sounds perfectly normal. My African Greys and my Amazon do this all the time, mainly when they are settling down for the night. I think it's a comfprt thing.
