Hi buddy,

Did you consider testing the baby for psittacine beak and feather disease. Feather loss in chest area might indicate that. I hope your baby is fine and wish him or her a speedy recovery!

You may want to consider a good veterinarian’s advice.

Thank you

feather plucking
by: Alex

Your bird is plucking feathers.

Your bird MUST see an avian vet as a matter of urgency.

Your bird may be pulling them for a number of reasons.

- The bird may be sick
- The bird may have a pain it is trying to get to
- The bird may have an itch that it s trying to get to
- The bird may e stressed
- The bird may be bored

Before the problem can eb rectified, the problem needs to be diagnosed.

Your bird will only get worse, and the site cam be very painful.

Trust me, I has a bird that had the same symptoms and was in constant pain, and sadly 6 months later, she was so ill she was put to sleep.

Although my budgie had a serious illness, that no-one could diagnose, it still shows that if the bird is not treated, then the problem gets very bad.

Please get the bird to an avian vet as soon as possible. The problem CANNOT be diagnosed over the internet.

Plus, with a bird that looks like the picture is gong to be very hard to adopt, even if you decided to.

Your bird is suffering.

Please let us know how the bird gets on.

My parrot's feathers are falling!!

Your bird is plucking his feathers, and this will go on until he is examined by an Avian Vet ONLY to see if he has parasites or some kind of infection. Take him to ONLY an Avian Vet, and do not even think of selling him to someone else without taking him to an avian vet for an exam. If you love this bird, and it sounds like you do, then explain to your parents that he has to be examined by an avian vet to see if they can find a physical reason for this behavior. Sometimes birds get bored and pluck themselves, and most of the time this is not the case and some kind of physical issue is at fault. Diet is also a factor, and he needs to be eating a pelleted diet using organic pellets if you can find them there. All seed diets and diets full of junk foods are the cause of many skin and behavior problems.Changing from seeds and junk to organic pellets take time, so write back in once he has been examined by avian vet for a link to instructions on how to go about the change. Do not make any drastic changes in diet until he has been cleared or treated by avian vet.

The responsible thing to do is to have him examined immediately by an avian vet. Do not take him to a dog and cat vet as they know less than nothing about birds.

Let us know what avian vet has to say. Your bird needs help immediately so please do not wait any longer to take care of your bird.
