still trying
by: starone

Thank you for the info. Casper had a clean bill of health this year but now he won't come to us to go in his carrier to be taken to the vet. i don't want to hurt him any more then he's already hurt. i think he's stressed out. we talk to him all the time and i'm going to move him back to the window and hope this help. he still eats and we change up his toys but i'm not sure that's helping either. when we go near his cage he takes off. when we cover him at night he starts to squawk a bit then. i always say good morning and good night to him. i'm still trying. thanks for your info. c

Bird with bad diet and plucking
by: Tracie

Getting the bird a "friend" would likely stress it more, and the bird may be sick or have a disease.

First Find an Avian Vet for your bird to make sure it is not ill. You can read the Feather Damaging Behavior article written by an avian vet for more information on this problem.

Once your bird has seen the avian vet and been given a clean bill of health, then please read our Switching Birds To Pellets article to help you get your bird on a healthy diet. It's diet might be contributing to the plucking problem.
