My Quaker Parrot has watery poop?????

by Joan Quinn

My Quaker Parrot is 2 1/2 yrs old and always had very watery poop. So, there is no change in his poop, it is just different from all of my other birds. I guess it is really pee mixed in with it. He keeps nibbling at his one toe and has done this for about 8 months now. His toe is not sore (yet!). He chews his tail feathers off as soon as they start to grow in and he has done this ever since he was about 8 months old. Otherwise, he seems happy and healthy and is ALWAYS talking and laughing. He is very rough in everything that he does, in his playing and even when he kisses me it almost feels like a bite. Do I need to take him to an avian vet, as I don't have the money. The last time I took my Cockatiel, it cost $380 for the visit, blood work and meds.

Parrot with watery poop and picking itself
by: Tracie

I am sorry, but it sounds like your bird has a bacterial infection or something. You are going to have to Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird. Most vets take payments, so maybe you can make payment arrangements.

Please read our Feather Damaging Behavior article for more information about birds that pick their feathers.
