My Quaker Parrot is acting weird...

by Kari
(Michigan)

The quaker parrot that I have has been very shakey and been sleeping alot. He also hasn't been eating or drinking and has been very weak as far as walking and climbing around in his cage. I don't know what's wrong, can you help?

Your bird has either been poisoned by something in the air or ingested, or is ill with something else.

I would first make sure you do not have any plug-in air fresheners or Teflon coated irons, toaster ovens, indoor grills etc. Cleaning with toxic cleaners can kill your birds also.

If your bird is allowed to fly around the house, it could have chewed something toxic. There are really just too many things. If you fed it table food, it could be a chemical fed to a vegetable, fruit or in the food.

Please Find an Avian Vet for your bird right away.
