My Quaker's injured leg.

by Fayne basto

My Quaker had a partial fracture on his leg, about a week after the splint was taken off he jumped off a counter top and has been limping more than he already was, what should I do? Will his leg ever be the same as before he injured it?

I took him to the vet this morning and it turns out his leg is severely broken. The vet put another splint on him for 3 weeks but there is a 50% chance it won't heal and god forbid that happens, they would have to amputate his leg. I'm heartbroken, I've had him for 5 wonderful years and he is like my child and i love him with all my heart. i feel horrible to have waited 3 days to take him back to the vet, I just thought it was fine because he was using the leg and was trying to walk. Please pray for my Lucas and his full recovery.

You should take the bird back to your avian vet. There is no telling over the Internet what has happened.
