My Rainbow lorikeet just died

by alexander
(Pottsville NSW Australia)

Hi all, Yesterday my lorrie started vomiting so we brought her and her partner inside.
This morning she was okay, but just an hour ago, we was dead. Her partner was standing on top of her, he is absolutely devastated. When we bought the male, he came with a female, which flew away 2 years ago when some assh*le from the street opened the cage. We've had this young female with him for a year now and they got on good, other then him being a bit too rough with her.

Anyway, we've taken her out now and buried her, but skiddles (the boy) is doing the same whistle noises as last time and he walking around with his head down. We have managed to feed him some food and he has come out of the cage (but not touched us).

Do you think the vomiting was an illness that could have been spread to Skiddles? He looks fine considering...

Thank you

The best thing would have been to take the sick bird for a necropsy, to find out what killed the bird. Since that bird is buried, you will need to Find an Avian Vet to examine that bird to make sure it doesn't have a disease or illness.

Since you keep your birds outside, it is possible that they got a disease from wild birds. There is no way anyone can tell over the Internet, only an in person visit will determine if your bird has the same thing wrong with it.
