My umbrella cockatoo acts fine but has white spit in his mouth?

by haley
(evansville IN)

My umbrella cockatoo, has white foamy spit in his mouth, hes also chewing on it, he acts completely fine, and is eating, drinking, and playing normally except he might be a bit cold, I'm extremely worried he is my BABY!!! If he is sick, what might his illness be?, and how much might it cost to treat this, I'm only 16 and I don't have much money. :(

U2
by: diamondtia

Hi,
Even if your bird is eating and drinking and playing, it still may be very sick. They don't show their sickness until it's almost and sometimes, too late.

Maybe you could ask your parents or a friend for the money to take your bird to an avian vet before it's too late. Maybe you could even make arrangements with the vet for a payment plan, but you have to try something to make sure your baby isn't sick.

Good luck hon, and I hope your U2 is ok.

Mucus in bird's mouth
by: Tracie

Dr B has not been answering questions lately, sorry. Hopefully he will start answering again soon. Please Find an Avian Vet that takes payments to examine your bird.

Birds do not have mucus in their mouths normally, so your bird may have an infection. Dr B really can't help with that over the Internet anyway, he will just tell you to get your bird to an avian vet.
