Nasty lump on my canary

by Alison
(Toronto Ontario)

My husband found a canary on the side of the street. Look like he had a injury to his eye, it was almost closed. So tookcare of him then he started to develop this lump under his eye. It was there for about 2 months now the lump turned black and moved down his face it's almost under his neck now . Just want to make sure he doesn't have anything contagous, and that he is ok. Thank you so much. Looking forward to someone answering my question.

You need to take him in to be seen by an avian veterinarian to be able to make these determinations.

Get your bird to an Avian Vet in your driving area immediately if not sooner. How can you think everything is okay about a bird turning black from an infection that has gotten so out of hand?

This bird will die if not treated, and would have been better left at the side of the road. Please get him to an Avian Vet as soon as possible because this sounds like gangrene or something equally as bad and bird will die. Your bird is in immense pain and agony, so please do not allow him to suffer any longer.
