I have had a female teal for about 7 years . She had never been friendly. I just got a new teal that will let me hold it . I have them both in the same age . I was told that this is not good that the new one will learn the old ones tude and I will not be able to handle it . Is this true .

Unless the cage is very, very large, like 4 feet by 4-8 feet, I suggeset you put the new bird into another cage. Sometimes birds fight, and the older bird may very well be a threat to your younger bird.

So, separate cages is what needs to happen here. If they have playtops, then birds can visit when out of cage. ALWAYS BE PRESENT ANYTIME BIRDS ARE OUT OF CAGES AS THIS IS THE TIME FOR POSSIBLE INJURIES, FIGHTS OR EATING THE WRONG THING. Always supervise birds out of their cages. Also, start working with your cockie hen to get her tamed down some. Please don't just lock her in a cage and forget about her as this is called cruelty. She may be sick, so if it has been over a year since she was seen by Avian Vet, then she is due for a checkup to make sure she is not sick. Sick birds sometimes become aggressive because they do not feel well.
