You didn't mention if you purchased this bird from a breeder, a private pet store or a mass chain store that buys a ton of birds from "bird farms" so I don't know if it was hand tame, healthy or what.

I suggest you Find an Avian Vet for your bird if your bird has not been seen by an avian vet. Many, many birds are already sick when purchased from breeders and pet stores. I only purchase birds that come with a certificate of good health given by an avian vet, personally.

New birds, especially ones not hand tame, are usually not very active when they first move to their new cage and home. They have gone from being with birds to only humans that they don't know in a place that is big and scary.
