New bird

Most all birds purchased in pet stores and from breeders are already sick with an infection. Yours is sick and has been for however long it was in store. As Tracie said, your bird has to be examined by an Avian Vet in your driving area, and she gave you a link. Avian Vets are easy to find in the yellow pages and sometimes they work within a dog and cat vet facility. This should be noted on ad in the yeliow pages.

Do not take bird to regular dog and cat vet as they are neither licensed nor trained in the care of birds and will not know what to do. Also do not use any over the counter meds especially those found in pet stores because until you know what kind of infection bird has, it cannot be treated without great risk to your bird.

Your little bird is sick and needs to go to the doctor, so hopefully you'll do that quickly before he gets any sicker.

New bird sleeping a lot
by: Tracie

Your bird should not be sleeping all the time, that is an indication of illness. Your bird should not be running around outside either, because it may get diseases that the wild birds have.

Dr B can not tell if your bird is sick over the Internet, please Find an Avian Vet for your bird.
