New Furnace Fumes and Parrots

by Rhonda
(USA)

I have a Senegal parrot, a parakeet, and a Red-Lored Amazon. I'm planning on getting a new gas forced-air furnace for my home soon and wondered if the new furnace could emit any fumes that might be toxic to my birds.

Could the new furnace contain any parts coated in chemicals that would burn off in the first few days and cause problems for the birds? Could it contain any Teflon parts?

Thanks,
Rhonda

Gas Furnace safe for birds?
by: The Vet

I would remove the birds the first two days when you run it the first time. I do not know if any parts have Teflon, so, you would need to ask that of the manufacturer. But, I don?t think so. After the first day or two, your birds should be fine.
