New ringneck

I already have a 4 month old ringneck (not sure of the sex yet) and i just recieved a 1 year old ringneck as a gift. What is the chances of these two becoming friends? currently they are in seperate cages placed next to each other. My new ringneck isn't handreared though, but my 4 month old is. And another thing, what is the chances of me "taming" my new baby?

Thanks for writing. LEAVE THESE TWO BIRDS IN THEIR SEPARATE CAGES. The one that is not tame can and will hurt your baby, so when they are out of cage together, make sure you are watching them at ALL TIMES.

Your un-tame bird is going to need to go to the Avian Vet as soon as is possible. It needs to be checked for infections and/or parasites. If your baby has not been in a while, he needs to go also to be checked out. Your wild bird will need to have his wings clipped by the Avian vet. Have vet trim the Primary feathers at the bottom or end of the wings, AND ONLY THOSE FEATHERS, DO NOT TRIM UP ANY HIGHER AS THIS CRIPPLES BIRDS AND HURTS THEM ALL THE TIME. Once wings are clipped, you can look at some of the training material on this site to know how to start taming your bird.

DO NOT START ANY TAMING/TRAINING PROGRAM BEFORE TAKING YOUR BIRDS TO AN AVIAN VET FOR A CHECKUP. SICK BIRDS OR THOSE GETTING SICK CANNOT LEARN BECAUSE THEY DO NOT FEEL WELL.
