New Senegal parrot with loose droppings

I bought a senegal parrot (yellow) and brought him home yesturday for the first time, for the most part he is doing alright ... so I think.

This morning we got up and his poop was a dark brown with a little bit of white then about an hour or so later it switched to a yellow runny some times lumpy kind of poop. I was just wondering if my bird is sick. Oh and hes about 4 and a half months old.

Senegal Baby

Yes, your little one may be sick, and you will want to make an appointment with an Avian Vet to see him as soon as is possible. Baby birds are prone to bacterial infections, and the stress of changing homes can weaken the immune system, and they become sick.

The stools you describe are NOT normal, so first thing is to get him to a qualified Avian Vet. Please do not take him to dog and cat vet as they DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING with birds unless they have an Avian vet on staff which would make it fine.

Please don't wait too long as babies have less stamina than older birds, and he needs to be taken into vet asap. Congratulations on your new, sweet little Senegal as they are cute as they can be! Send us pix out here when he is all well.
