New Yellow Naped amazon

I have just recieved a yellow-naped amazon from a neglected family who claims her to be 2 years old and has spent her 2 years with them in the garrage with no attention in a 17 x 17 x 27 cage. With never a toy.

I have taken her over now and I am curious on how to find out approximate age. I didnt know if maybe there is a different color variation anywhere? or something like that.

It has only been a couple of weeks with this bird and she is really loving up to us. She now has a 32 x 29 cage and you can tell she loves every minute of it. She is also learning how to play with all the toys i keep buying her. tghanks for all the help.

As far as "I" know it is very unlikely to tell the actual age of a bird. One can only guestimate; especially if the bird is already over a year old.

Welcome to the parrot family

Well let me say first you did a great thing taking in the bird. The first thing you should do is take the bird to a avian vet for a checkup including blood tests. You can also have DNA testing done if you want to know the sex. Since parrots live such a long time I really do not think his age matters. Now take your time with your bird let him get use to you and his new family. Introduce him to some toys hopefully he is on a pellet diet if not slowly get him use to one. Buy a book about your bird and he needs as far as food goes. Also his cage seems small you might want to consider getting him a larger cage since he is going to be living in it for a long time and no one wants to live in a space 17 by 17. I hope all my answers helped you.
