newborn parrot feeding
by: Linda

Newborns have to be fed using a pipette or very small syringe every two hours. They need to be fed baby parrot formula which can be found here or in pet stores. Do NOT feed anything else as the baby parrot formula is formulated to be a complete, healthy and safe diet for newborn up to weaning age babies.

As for when to move to a syringe and/or how much to feed, ask your Avian Vet about this because amounts differ between parrot species. If you've not taken this baby to be examined by an Avian Vet so they can weigh him and check for infections, please do so immediately as a baby with even a low level bacterial infection will die from it because they have no immune system to speak of and go down quickly and finally.

Thanks for writing,
Linda
