nipping green wing macaw

by Emily Clark
(Wndsor, On, Canada)

I have a young green wing macaw who nips at me all the time, buy not my husband. I was wondering if there was something that I could do to stop this behaviour. Thanks

Wow, with such a big bird, a nip could be really bad. We do have some training material on our Parrot Training page that might help you train your bird to do an alternative behavior when he starts to nip.

You will need to study parrot behavior so you can understand your bird's communication, then you will need to work at teaching your bird another behavior. All of this will take a lot of time and patience.
