Our conure parrot gets out of cage

We have a conure parrot that gets out of cage some how. The cage is locked and it was checked thoroughly for any holes or extra large areas and there is nothing out of the norm. We can not figure out how he got out. This is a standard parrot cage so theres nothing abnormal about the cage.

Is it possible that like a cat if he can get his head through it they can squeeze body through?? If anybody has any ideas or can help me figure this out that would be fantastic!! Thank you for your time!!

Conure gets out of cage

Conures are escape artists. I agree with the other commentor . . . he probably got out through the water gate (mine did many times) before I figured it out. You do have to do a thorough lockdown. Have fun!

Did the bird do it just one time or does he get out all the time? If the cage opens from the top, they can figure out how to open it and once they get out, it closes behind them so they appear like Houdini. It could also be getting out of the doors where the food and water dishes are and like I said, after they make their exit, the door comes down and closes behind them. Birds cannot squeeze themselves through small openings like a cat does. I had to put plastic zip ties on every door on the cage that I don't use and the main door I have to put a pad lock on when I leave the house because my bird knows how to open it.
