by serena

hi, im serena

i have two female budgies. one of them called maxi, she is breathing nomally but every now and again she starts panting for a couple of seconds and then goes back to normal and then happens again and so on. she also slightly opens her mouth while doing this. i dont know why this happens but it would be really good for some help before i think about taking her to the vet.
thankyou!

Panting Budgie
by: Joan Quinn

I just had a Canary that would gasp for air with her mouth open periodically. The woman who owns the bird store said she was probably egg bound. However, I took her to an avian vet and she had Pneumonia. I treated her for 4 days after that, but she passed away. She was very congested. If she is egg bound, this is also a critical situation. Please take your bird to an avian vet. I know it is expensive, but it is worth it if you love the bird. I spent my last penny on a sick Canary that I rescued only 3 weeks before she passed away. She was a special Canary with a sweet spirit. I am glad that I did all I could do for her....I have no guilt about her passing, only sadness that she is no longer here. Good luck with your Budgie....I hope she will be okay!

Your budgie could be overheated, but it would be best to take her to an avian vet. She could have breathing problems and no one online can help you. She really should see a vet.
