Safe wax candles for birds
by: The Avian Vet

There should not be a problem with these candles. You can also use beeswax candles. They are not deadly, but if you notice any symptoms such as sneezing, head shaking, scratching at the nares, coughing, or tail bobbing, then extinguish the candles immediately and get your bird into some fresh air. If the symptoms persist for more than 15 minutes after removing to fresh air, then see an avian veterinarian immediately. You should not burn candles when the bird is outside of the cage to prevent accidental burns. If burns occur, run cool water over the area and immediately see an avian veterinarian.
