Parakeet can't turn head

My parakeet seems to have his head stuck in a backward facing position (the position that he normally takes before going to sleep). He tries hard to turn his head forward but can never get past 90 degrees. He is 13 years old. What could be wrong?

He may have had a stroke, or he may have an infection or some other disease. I recommend that you have your bird examined by an avian veterinarian.

This is something that must be treated immediately, you do not have possibly a week or more to wait for Dr B to answer.

Please Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird right away.
