Parakeet excessively drinking

I'm worried. My parakeet has, in the last couple months, taken to biting her water bottle excessively and shaking the excess water from her face. I come home from work and all the water in the bottle is gone and most is in the floor of the cage. Luckily there is a grate that keeps my bird off the bottom.

I called the vet and they said most likely she is simply trying to get a bath. Does this sound right? All this water has made her stools liquidy, too, but I'm wondering if it's boredom or illness that is making her "play" with her water bottle. She is a lemon yellow parakeet and her face now has an orange hue to it. Not sure if that is from the water. Any thoughts?

Parakeet drinking a lot

This could be a few different possibilities. She could be wanting a bath or it could be boredom. You should also investigate the possibility that it is an illness. Your bird should be examined and have some blood work done to screen for kidney and liver disease, among other problems that can cause these symptoms. Your bird should be seen annually anyway for well bird check ups and vaccines.
